Privacy Policy
Effective 2 October 2026
The short version: Kosher Switch has no accounts, no ads and no tracking. What you set up stays on your phone. We never sell anything about you, and we never see your messages, photos, apps or code.
Who we are
Kosher Switch is made by Itai Elishakov in Belgium. If you have a question about this policy or your information, email kosherswitch@outlook.com.
Kosher Switch for Android
What stays on your phone
Your code, your choice of apps, your settings, notes, siddur bookmarks and everything you ask the assistant are stored only on the phone. We have no server that receives them.
Location
If you allow it, the phone's location is used on the phone to calculate zmanim and to show the weather for where you are.
Online services the app uses
A few features need the internet. When you use them, the phone talks directly to these services, which see your IP address like any website does:
| Feature | Service | What it receives |
|---|---|---|
| Weather | Open-Meteo | Approximate coordinates, or the town you search for |
| Town names for weather | OpenStreetMap (Nominatim) | Approximate coordinates |
| Rough location when location is off | BigDataCloud | Your IP address, to estimate your city |
| Family filter in kosher mode | CleanBrowsing family DNS | The names of the websites and services the phone connects to, so adult and unsafe sites can be blocked |
| Assistant (optional, one-time download) | Hugging Face | A normal file download of the AI model |
| Kosher Browser (off by default) | The websites you visit | What any website receives from a browser |
A parent can turn the weather off. Pictures in the Kosher Browser are checked on the phone; nothing is sent anywhere to be checked.
Kosher Switch for iPhone
Kosher Switch for iPhone collects no data (“Data Not Collected” on the App Store).
- Screen Time: the apps you choose are stored by Apple as private tokens; Kosher Switch can't even see their names.
- Location is used only on the phone, to calculate zmanim.
- Contacts are read only when you ask the assistant to call or message someone, and never leave the phone.
- The assistant uses Apple's on-device model; your questions never leave the phone.
This website
This website has no cookies, no analytics and no ads. If you use the contact form, what you type is sent through FormSubmit to our email. It is hosted by GitHub Pages; like any host, GitHub may keep technical logs such as IP addresses for security (see GitHub's privacy statement). The Android page loads a small QR-code library from cdnjs (Cloudflare) to draw the setup code.
When you email us
If you write to us, by email or with the form on this website, we use your name, email address and message only to answer you. The form is delivered by FormSubmit (formsubmit.co), which forwards it to our mailbox. Our mailbox is hosted by Microsoft Outlook. We delete messages when they're no longer needed, or sooner if you ask.
Children
Kosher Switch is made for parents to set up a child's phone, and for adults. We don't collect information from children, or from anyone else.
Your rights
Because we don't keep information about you, there is usually nothing to see, correct or delete. If you emailed us, you can ask for a copy of your messages or ask us to delete them. You can also complain to the Belgian Data Protection Authority (dataprotectionauthority.be).
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update it here and change the date at the top.
